The word Port along with the residence seaports is used for the facilities that handle the river traffic. There are certain ports which are located on the rivers, lake and canals that have a direct access to the seas or oceans.

Some ports are also prearranged as inland ports. The port or the harbour facility which is very useful for fishing is specified as the Fishing Port. There is also a dry port which is a type of a yard used for the storage of containers or the normal bulk cargos. These dry ports are generally connected to the ocean ports via the rail or the road.
