In 1971 Angelou wrote the script for film Georgia and was preferred for a Pulitzer Prize. In 1973 for Look Away she was chosen for a Tony Award. She also directed an episode in1976 which is won the award. She directed the quality film contained by 1998 named Down in the Delta. She also did children's television show resembling Sesame Street.

Maya Angelou shows in 1977 having a small part surrounded by The Richard Pryor Special as the wife of a drunkard. In 1978 Angelou hosted a 30-episode educational program named "Humanities in the Arts" produced by City Colleges and Coast Community College District.
